In St. Petersburg, law enforcement officers detained Mikhail Smirnov, a 32-year-old municipal deputy. This was announced on March 13 by a source of Izvestia.

A lawyer has already been allowed to see him, but the official reason for his detention is not yet known.

Smirnov represents the faction of the Communist Party of the Russian Federation in the Municipal Council of the Sosnovskoye district (Vyborg district). The locals voted for him twice. In the elections of 2019 and 2024.
