- The Vice President of the RIHF spoke about the negotiations on the matches with the USA and Canada
Representatives of the American and Canadian ice hockey federations express their willingness to host matches with the Russian national team and are in continuous dialogue with the Russian side. This was announced on March 13 by Roman Rotenberg, First Vice President of the Russian Ice Hockey Federation (RIHF).
"Everything is in dialogue. The USA and Canada are the first countries that are ready to play with us, they are open to dialogue. <...> We cooperate with colleagues from North America, we exchange views on a daily basis," he said in an interview with Match TV.
In the contacts, representatives of the designated authorities, as Rotenberg added, discuss exercises, as well as development issues. He noted that there are still "small unfriendly countries" in the international sports sphere that are trying to put "sticks in the wheels" of Moscow, Washington and Ottawa.
"Unfriendly countries behaved like cowards, stopped talking to us, and Canadians and Americans talk in friendly conversations.: "We are waiting for your return, because any victory we have without your participation is unreal," concluded the Vice President of the Russian Federation.
On January 22, Mikhail Degtyarev, Minister of Sports of the Russian Federation, Chairman of the Russian Olympic Committee, announced the intention of his department to appeal jointly with the Russian Federation against the sanctions against the Russian national teams, which were upheld by the International Ice Hockey Federation (IIHF). He clarified that Russia will consistently defend the rights of its representatives to equal participation in competitions.
