Statements by the US administration about a harsh response to third countries in the event of assistance to Iran can be directed not only to the Middle East, but also to the Caribbean states. This opinion was expressed on March 13 in an interview with Izvestia by political scientist and publicist Georgy Dibrov.

On the same day, the commander-in-chief of the NATO joint Forces in Europe, General Alexus Grinkevich, said that the United States is ready to respond harshly to any side that provides military assistance to Iran.

According to him, Cuba and Nicaragua condemned the actions of the American side in the Middle East most sharply, calling on Washington to comply with international law and respect the territorial integrity of Iran. The expert believes that the statements of the American side may be a signal to these states.

He also drew attention to the appearance in the information space of political maps with a possible territorial division of Iran. According to the expert, such publications may be part of the information pressure.

"Such provocations are aimed at creating a destructive information background and increasing tension in the region. The United States is looking for an excuse to switch to the Caribbean. If the White House presents information about assistance to Iran from Cuba and Nicaragua, this will become a formal reason to start military operations in the region," the political scientist believes.

In addition, Dibrov added that in such situations, the United States often relies on the principles of the Monroe Doctrine, which traditionally considers the countries of North and South America as the sphere of Washington's special interests.

In his opinion, the current geopolitical situation makes many states vulnerable to such pressure. At the same time, a number of countries have already expressed concern about the development of the conflict. In particular, China, India, Brazil and Turkey called for a cessation of hostilities and a transition to diplomatic dialogue.

Dibrov also noted that the situation remains difficult, but a sharp increase in tension between the United States and Iran should not be expected after such statements.

"Such statements do not fundamentally change the level of tension. Further dynamics will depend primarily on the decisions of the American administration and the domestic political situation in the United States," he concluded.

U.S. Secretary of State Marco Rubio said on March 9 that the goal of the United States mission in Iran is to destroy Tehran's ability to launch missiles. He stressed that the operation is carried out with "overwhelming force and high precision." In addition, the diplomat called the Iranian government a terrorist regime.
