Komi court jailed teenager for preparing for mass murder

The Ust-Vymsky District Court of the Komi Republic has detained a 15-year-old teenager from the Udorsky district of Komi, who has been preparing a mass murder at a school since May last year. This was announced on March 13 by the court's press service.

"The court chose a preventive measure in the form of detention in respect of a 15-year-old schoolboy from the Udorsky district, accused of preparing a mass murder at school <...>. During the consideration of the case, the court found that in the period from May 1, 2025 to March 11, 2026, driven by personal hostility, he became interested in the idea of killing teachers and classmates, for which he collected information on the Internet," TASS cites the text of the message.

According to investigators, the teenager planned to commit a mass murder in May 2026 using a firearm belonging to his father. He told the users of one of the groups on the Internet about his intention and method of murder.

A criminal case has been opened on this fact on the grounds of a crime under Part 1 of Article 30, paragraph "a" of Part 2 of Article 105 of the Criminal Code of the Russian Federation ("Preparation for the murder of two or more persons"). Having assessed the information about the identity of the accused and the nature of the acts charged against him, the court granted the investigator's request and chose a preventive measure for the accused in the form of detention for a period up to and including May 10.

In one of the schools in Alexandrovsk, Perm Region, on February 19, a seventh-grader stabbed a peer with a knife. The Investigative Committee (IC) has opened a criminal case into the incident. The student injured in the attack was taken to the hospital and is in stable condition.
