The attack by the Armed Forces of Ukraine (AFU) on the school in Energodar is aimed at destabilizing the situation around the Zaporizhia nuclear power plant. This was announced on March 13 by Alexey Likhachev, head of the Rosatom State Atomic Energy Corporation, during a meeting with a delegation from the International Atomic Energy Agency (IAEA).

"A heavy drone hit the school building in Energodar, at that moment there were up to 600 students there. This suggests that the Kiev regime is escalating the situation, trying to create an atmosphere of fear, which affects the safety of the [Zaporizhia] station," he said.

According to the head of Rosatom, strikes are being carried out not only on residential areas, but also on the industrial zone, as well as on the power distribution system. Likhachev clarified that power transmission lines are regularly shelled by artillery and attacked by drones of the Armed Forces of Ukraine.

He noted that Rosatom positively assessed the initiative of the Director General of the International Atomic Energy Agency (IAEA), Rafael Grossi, to introduce a silence regime in March, which made it possible to restore the supply of electricity, but the risks of repeated disconnection of external power remain.

On March 2, the head of the IAEA, Rafael Grossi, commenting on the situation at the NPP, called it extremely difficult. He also said that representatives of the IAEA were on the territory of all the nearest nuclear power plants, where they monitored the safety and reliability of facilities. Later, on March 5, the agency announced the restoration of Ferroalloy-1, and the next day, its connection to the nuclear power plant.

Russian Foreign Ministry spokeswoman Maria Zakharova said on March 6 that attacks by Ukrainian militants on Russian nuclear facilities were "nuclear blackmail." According to her, the sponsors of the Armed Forces of Ukraine are also involved in these actions, who have not cut their funding or reduced their political support for the Kiev regime.
