Likhachev pointed out the inadmissibility of attacks on nuclear power facilities

Attacks on nuclear power facilities should be unacceptable "under no circumstances." This was announced on March 13 by Alexey Likhachev, head of the Rosatom State Atomic Energy Corporation, during a meeting with a delegation from the International Atomic Energy Agency (IAEA).

"Likhachev emphasized the inadmissibility of attacks on nuclear power facilities under any circumstances, stressing that turning the Bushehr nuclear power plant or the Bushehr NPP into targets for military attacks is unacceptable and suicidal," Rosatom said in a statement on the MAX messenger.

Speaking about the nuclear power plant, the head of Rosatom said that this facility is constantly under threat due to incessant provocations by the Armed Forces of Ukraine (AFU). After that, as emphasized, Likhachev noted the role of the IAEA staff in ensuring the silence regimes that were introduced to carry out repairs at the damaged facilities of the Dneprovskaya and Ferroalloy—1 nuclear power plants. According to him, such agreements have already been implemented for five times.

The parties who participated in the next round of consultations taking place in Moscow confirmed the importance of maintaining a constant dialogue on topical issues.

On March 2, the head of the IAEA, Rafael Grossi, commenting on the situation at the NPP, called it extremely difficult. He also said that representatives of the IAEA were on the territory of all the nearest nuclear power plants, where they monitored the safety and reliability of facilities. Later, on March 5, the agency announced the restoration of Ferroalloy-1, and the next day, its connection to the nuclear power plant.

Russian Foreign Ministry spokeswoman Maria Zakharova said on March 6 that attacks by Ukrainian militants on Russian nuclear facilities were "nuclear blackmail." According to her, the sponsors of the Armed Forces of Ukraine are also involved in these actions, who have not cut their funding or reduced their political support for the Kiev regime.
