Swiss court sides with Naftogaz in transit dispute with Gazprom

The Swiss Federal Court rejected Gazprom's appeal against the decision of the International Arbitration Court in Zurich, which in June 2025 ordered the Russian company to pay Ukrainian Naftogaz more than $1.3 billion under the gas transit contract. This is stated in the decision published on the website of the court.

"The appeal was rejected to the extent that it was accepted for consideration," the ruling says.

In addition to the principal amount, Gazprom is obliged to cover its own legal costs in the amount of 200 thousand Swiss francs (about $254 thousand) and Naftogaz's costs in the amount of 250 thousand francs (about $318 thousand).
