Thailand announced its readiness to purchase oil from Russia
Thailand is ready to buy Russian oil. This was stated on March 13 by the country's Deputy Prime Minister Phiphat Ratchakit Prakan at a briefing on the situation in the Middle East.
"It became known from the US statement that they stopped the boycott of Russian oil exports, so Thailand will become one of the countries that will now begin negotiations with Russia on the purchase of crude oil," The Nation Thailand portal quoted him as saying.
It is specified that the negotiations will be initiated by the Ministry of Energy of Thailand.
On March 10, US President Donald Trump announced that the United States would lift sanctions against the oil sector of a number of countries in order to control rising energy prices amid the war in Iran. The head of the White House did not specify which countries he was referring to. He noted that if a "lasting peace" is established, sanctions may not have to be renewed.
A correspondent reported on March 12 that the withdrawal by the United States of the sale of oil and petroleum products from Russia from American sanctions is aimed at reducing the cost of energy resources on world markets. In addition, he added that the decision to sell Russian oil is short-term.
