The Swedish Coast Guard has taken control of the Comorian-flagged tanker Sea Owl I off the coast of Trelleborg. This was reported on March 13 by the Reuters news agency, citing Daniel Stanling, Deputy Chief of Operations at the Coast Guard.

"The Swedish Coast Guard reported on Thursday that it boarded and took control of a vessel believed to belong to a stateless person in the Swedish waters of the Baltic Sea," the publication says.

Stanling noted that the Coast Guard had grounds to intervene due to the high level of threat to maritime security.

As noted by "Gazeta.Ru", the tanker is on the sanctions lists of several countries, including the European Union (EU).

The Reuters news agency reported on March 6 that the Swedish Coast Guard boarded the bulk carrier Caffa in the Baltic Sea and seized the vessel. It was noted that the vessel was sailing in the territorial waters of Sweden under the Guinean flag.
