One person was killed and two injured in a shooting at a university in the United States.

As a result of the shooting at Old Dominion University in Virginia, one person was killed and two injured. This was reported on March 12 by NBC News with reference to the head of security at the educational institution, Garrett Shelton.

"One of the victims died. We are currently working to contact his family," Shelton said.

It is specified that the shooting was opened in the lobby of one of the educational buildings by a 36-year-old man, previously convicted of providing material support to the Islamic State (IS, a terrorist organization banned in the Russian Federation). According to the TV channel, he died as a result of the incident.

As Shelton noted, the victims were taken to the hospital, their condition is assessed as stable.

The director of the Federal Bureau of Investigation (FBI), Cash Patel, announced on the same day that a shooting had occurred at a synagogue in Michigan. The Jewish Federation of Detroit on social media called on all members of the community not to approach the area where the incident occurred.
