- Russian participants of the Paralympics will receive 1 million rubles each from a partner of the Russian Olympic Committee
All seven Russian athletes participating in the Paralympic Games in Italy will receive cash payments in the amount of 1 million rubles. Pavel Rozhkov, President of the Russian Paralympic Committee (RPC), announced this on March 12.
Financial support will be provided by one of the RPC partners.
"Each athlete of our national team will be paid 1 million rubles, and it is especially important that this encouragement does not depend on the place occupied or the final result," Rozhkov told TASS.
The head of the committee stressed that this company regularly provides support to Russian Paralympians. So, four years ago, after the unfair suspension of the national team from the Beijing Games, the partner was one of the first to send the team more than 54 million rubles.
On March 12, Russian alpine skier Varvara Voronchikhina became the silver medalist of the 2026 Paralympic Games in giant slalom. The athlete performs in the LW6/8-2 class (injury to a part of the arm).
