- The United States has transferred part of the air defense from Europe to the Middle East
The United States has reduced the number of air defense systems in the European region, transferring them to the Middle East. This was stated on March 12 by the Commander-in-Chief of NATO in Europe, Alexus Grinkevich, during a hearing in the US Senate.
"I have also deployed some of the air defense systems of our European Command to protect a number of our NATO allies, also near the Middle East, if I may say so, in the eastern Mediterranean," Grinkevich said, broadcast by the Reuters news agency.
He noted that the United States was forced to deploy air defense systems to the Middle East due to the military operation in Iran.
On the same day, political analyst Bohdan Bezpalko told Izvestia that the military operation launched by the United States and Israel of Iran could negatively affect the supply of weapons to the Armed Forces of Ukraine (AFU), whose ranks already have a need for ammunition for anti-aircraft missile systems (SAM). He specified that the attention of Western countries will certainly shift from Ukraine to the states of the Middle East, on which, in particular, oil supplies and global inflation depend.
All important news is on the Izvestia channel in the MAX messenger.
