The number of car thefts and thefts in Moscow has decreased by 30 times in 13 years
In Moscow, the number of car thefts and thefts has decreased by 97% over the past 13 years. The Metropolitan Department of Transport announced this in its Telegram channel on March 12.
So, according to the Traffic Management Center (TSODD), in 2012 about 13 thousand such cases were recorded in the capital, and in 2025 — only about 400 incidents.
Deptrans noted that this result was achieved through the introduction and development of photo-video fixation complexes. To date, about 3.7 thousand cameras are operating in Moscow, which use neural networks to recognize 67 types of violations and help find stolen cars.
So, in real time, the complexes transmit data on the flow to law enforcement agencies, and special programs detect stolen and stolen vehicles.
Earlier, on January 29, it was reported that the "smart" cameras of the Traffic Management Center in Moscow began to detect scooters and bicycles on the roads. According to Maxim Liksutov, Deputy mayor of the capital, cameras have learned how to record the movement of SIM users in lanes designed for cars, which is prohibited by traffic rules and creates danger.
