In Udmurtia, seven local residents were detained for phone fraud using SIM boxes. This was announced on March 12 by the Investigative Committee (IC) of Russia.

"According to the investigation, from August 2025 to February 2026, the defendants, acting as part of an organized group in the city of Izhevsk, ensured the operation of subscriber traffic terminals (sim boxes) for mass telephone attacks on Russian citizens in order to steal their funds," the UK wrote in the MAX messenger channel.

It is specified that the attackers rented six apartments in different areas of the city, where they placed the necessary equipment and created a fraudulent call center. The investigation also suggests that the supervision of this center was carried out from the territory of a foreign state.

The detainees are accused of illegally using a subscriber's traffic terminal or a virtual telephone exchange (Part 2 of Article 274.3 of the Criminal Code, Part 3 of Article 274.3 of the Criminal Code), as well as organizing activities to transfer subscriber numbers in violation of the requirements of the legislation of the Russian Federation (part 1 of Article 274.4 of the Criminal Code).

On March 2, Svetlana Petrenko, the official representative of the Investigative Committee of Russia, announced the detention by law enforcement agencies of 29 members of an organized criminal group that provided continuous operation of SIM boxes for remote fraudsters in the Moscow region. As a result, administrators, operators, activators and couriers who provided their work were detained.
