Ski climber Filippov said there were no insults at the 2026 Olympics
Nikita Filippov, the silver medalist of the 2026 Winter Olympics in ski mountaineering, shared his impressions of the atmosphere at the competitions in Italy at a press conference on March 12.
According to the athlete, he did not encounter any aggression or provocations.
"The atmosphere was very warm and cozy, almost homely. There was no negativity or insults directed at us," RIA Novosti quoted him as saying.
The athlete noted that due to the disparity of the Olympic facilities, there was no large-scale feeling of universal celebration. In his opinion, the Games in Italy were closer in format to the usual World Ski Mountaineering Championships, while the spirit of a large-scale event was felt more strongly at the Youth Olympics in Lausanne.
Filippov also emphasized the special support from the audience.
Filippov won the European Sprint Championship on March 4. In the final race, the 23-year-old Russian covered the distance in 2 minutes 58.6 seconds.
