No decisions have been made to remove restrictions from the WhatsApp messenger (owned by Meta, which is recognized as an extremist and banned in the Russian Federation). This was reported by the press service of the Federal Service for Supervision of Communications, Information Technology and Mass Communications (Roskomnadzor, RCN) on Thursday, March 12.
"The decisions of the authorized bodies to lift restrictions on the WhatsApp messenger have not been received," the press service told the Moscow City News agency.
Earlier in the day, Kremlin spokesman Dmitry Peskov said that the Telegram messenger needs to comply with the requirements of Russian law and maintain a constructive dialogue with government agencies to prevent possible restrictions. 360.ru .
