New UAVs from the Gadfly family were tested in the SVO zone
Domestic developers of unmanned aerial vehicles (UAVs) have significantly expanded the range of devices from the Gadfly family and successfully tested the resulting models in the area of a special military operation (SVO). This was announced on March 12 by representatives of the Popular Front.
Andrey Ivanov, one of the developers and managers of the manufacturing company, clarified that now, in addition to the classic Gadfly radio model, such devices as the "Argument", "Wire" and "Conductor" have been manufactured for Russian fighters.
The "Argument" drones, according to him, have formed a whole line, which in turn implies manual control and the use of alternative navigation, implemented in the form of "technical vision".
"There is a "Wire" in the line. The "Wire" is currently the most effective product on the front. We're getting a lot of flattering comments, a lot of terabytes of videos already, and we're going to start showing it all soon. The "wire" is a fiber—optic drone. In the classics, the most sought—after model is a 15-inch device," explained Ivanov.
The UAVs of the designated format, as the specialist emphasized, are equipped with coils for 25, 30 and 36 km. Those belonging to the first category have already been put into operation and are showing effectiveness.
The line also includes aerial repeater drones called the Explorer. This device can, without emitting or receiving radio signals, hang motionless at the set coordinates and show video. If necessary, operators can operate it.
Svod is [drones] based on the 10-inch Ovod-10 machine. What can I comment on? In general, the hardware that is designed specifically <...> on classic single—board solutions, single-board computers. <...> This is a thing that uses AI technology in combination with technical, it is also machine vision," said the expert.
The developer clarified that the "Vault" performs several functions at once: it can identify enemy vehicles, capture them and then defeat them autonomously. These operations can be performed, as Ivanov emphasized, from a distance of two km in clear weather and from a distance of 800 m in cloudy weather.
On January 12, the general designer of the Prince Vandal Novgorodsky UAV manufacturing organization (KVN) said that his team was working on the production of a barrage munition with a range of more than 50 km, which could be used in conjunction with KVN. According to him, the developers involved in the corporation are simultaneously working on another project — the creation of a drone with a jet engine and the ability to reach speeds of more than 500 km/h.
