The Second Western District Military Court announced the verdict in the case of the terrorist attack in Crocus City Hall, which claimed the lives of 151 people. Four perpetrators of the terrorist attack and 11 accomplices received life sentences, four more were imprisoned for terms from 19 to 22 years. How the terrorist attack happened

• The terrorist attack at the Crocus City Hall concert Hall, located in Krasnogorsk on the border with Moscow, occurred on the evening of March 22, 2024. On this day, a concert of the Picnic group was to take place on the site, for which more than 6 thousand tickets were sold. The Russian Dance Sports Championship competitions were held in another hall of the complex. At 7:55 p.m., five minutes before the scheduled concert, a car pulled up to the entrance of the building. Armed militants got out of it and walked through the foyer to the auditorium, firing non-stop at the guards and visitors.

• The terrorists brought cans of gasoline with them into the hall and used it to set fire to the chairs, while continuing to shoot the audience gathered in the stalls. During the attack, they were filming on mobile phones and immediately posted videos of the murders on the Internet. After carrying out the attack, the militants returned to their car and left the crime scene in it. In total, the attack lasted less than 20 minutes. After the escape of the terrorists, the fire continued, in three hours it reached an area of about 13 thousand square meters. m. It was localized by one a.m. the next day, the flames were completely eliminated almost a day later.

What were the consequences

• In June 2025, the Investigative Committee announced that 149 people were killed, one was missing, and 609 others were injured and injured in various degrees of severity. Later, in September of the same year, it became known about the death of music producer Dmitry Saraev. He suffered a gunshot wound to his back and has continued to receive treatment ever since.

Six children were among the dead. In addition, there were several foreigners among the victims of the terrorist attack: one citizen of Azerbaijan, Armenia, Moldova, two natives of Kyrgyzstan and three citizens of Belarus. 41 people died directly from the shooting (with the exception of Sarajevo), the remaining 108 died from the fire.

• The material damage from the terrorist attack amounted to 6 billion rubles. Crocus Group, which owns the Crocus City complex, announced a loss of up to $200 million due to a completely burned-out concert hall and a drop in attendance at other facilities. The victims and relatives of the victims filed civil lawsuits against the defendants in the amount of 65.7 million rubles.

Who staged the terrorist attack

• Four suspects in the direct execution of the terrorist attack were detained on March 23 in the Bryansk region while trying to cross the Russian-Ukrainian border. These were Tajik citizens Shamsidin Fariduni*, Dalerjon Mirzoev*, Mahammadsobir Fayzov* and Saidakrami Rachabolizoda*. During the court proceedings, they fully admitted their guilt in committing a terrorist act, participating in the activities of a terrorist organization, arms trafficking and undergoing training in order to commit terrorist acts. Prosecutors have requested life sentences for each of them, with sentences ranging from 16 to 18 years in prison.

• In addition to them, 15 other people appeared before the court. Husen Medov* and Dzhabrail Aushev* were charged with converting stripped-down assault rifles into combat ones. Five people are suspected of delivering weapons and ammunition to the perpetrators of the terrorist attack, four more provided the group with funds. All of them either partially admitted their guilt or denied committing crimes. The prosecution has also requested life imprisonment for these 11 defendants.

• Four others completely denied being guilty of aiding and abetting terrorists. These are Alisher Kasimov*, who rented an apartment to the perpetrators of the terrorist attack, as well as Isroil Islomov* and his sons Dilovar* and Aminchon*, who sold a white Renault car to the militants. The last three turned themselves in to the police. The prosecution requested that they be imprisoned for a term of 19 years 11 months to 22 years 10 months.

What was the verdict

• The verdict in the Crocus City Hall case was handed down ten days before the second anniversary of the terrorist attack. The terrorists and their accomplices were found guilty in full by the court. The direct perpetrators received a life sentence with serving the first 17 years in prison, and the remaining term in a special regime colony. Also, each of the four received fines in the amount of 990 thousand rubles.

The rest of the accomplices and participants in the terrorist attack also received long sentences ranging from 19 years and 11 months to life imprisonment. In total, 15 of the 19 defendants received life sentences.
