Fraudsters began to use a scheme in which they offer services for expedited obtaining of a foreign passport. This was announced on March 12 in the Department for the organization of the fight against the illegal use of information and communication technologies (UBK) of the Ministry of Internal Affairs of Russia.

"Online, attackers advertise services for expedited document processing or assistance in obtaining a passport without queues. For the "registration of the service", they ask you to send scans of your passport, SNILS, INN and other documents, as well as make a 100% prepayment. After payment, communication with such "intermediaries" disappears," the Telegram channel says.

According to the Interior Ministry, the documents obtained are used to register electronic wallets and financial accounts, through which fraudulent transactions and the withdrawal of stolen funds are then carried out.

The ministry called for issuing a passport only through the MFC, the Interior Ministry units or the Gosuslugi portal, not sending scans of documents to unknown persons and being careful when transferring money to individuals' cards.

The day before, the UBK of the Ministry of Internal Affairs said that fraudsters began sending emails with QR codes under the guise of the Federal Tax Service (FTS). Citizens receive notifications about unpaid taxes or arrears, which suggest that they quickly solve the problem by clicking on the QR code for payment.
