The US trade representative has launched an investigation against a number of countries due to the threat to the country's economy.

U.S. Trade Representative Jamison Greer has launched an investigation against China, the European Union (EU) and 14 other countries over allegations of discrimination against American manufacturers and the creation of excess production capacity. This was confirmed on March 11 by a publication on the website of the United States Trade Mission.

The United States will no longer sacrifice its industrial base for other countries that may export their overcapacity and production problems to us," Greer is quoted as saying in the publication.

He added that President Donald Trump prioritizes the return of critical supply chains to the country and the creation of well-paying jobs for Americans. According to Greer, the United States' trading partners in many areas produce more goods than they can consume domestically, thereby displacing the American manufacturer and hindering the expansion of the country's manufacturing sector.

It is specified that the countries under investigation include China, the EU, Singapore, Switzerland, Norway, Indonesia, Malaysia, Cambodia, Thailand, Korea, Vietnam, Taiwan, Bangladesh, Mexico, Japan and India.
