Yevgeny Negrey, the headmaster of Sergei Yarashev's school, who single-handedly held positions in the Donetsk People's Republic (DPR) for 68 days, spoke to Izvestia on March 11 about the personal qualities of the Hero of Russia during his studies.

"I was always ready to listen to my elders. I have never contradicted either teachers or adults. He always responded to requests. If you helped the teacher in some way, to move the desk, chairs, he was one of the first. I was actively involved in sports," Negrey said.

He noted that, despite the difficulties in learning, Yarashev was remembered by teachers as a kind student who was always ready to help.

Negrey added that during his school years Yarashev was an active participant in events related to the history of the country, loved to communicate with veterans, carefully listening to their stories and advice.

The headmaster also shared plans to install a desk named after the Hero in the school and invite Yarashev to a meeting with students after his recovery.

Russian President Vladimir Putin, during a meeting with the head of the DPR Denis Pushilin on March 10, assured that Yarashev would receive a state award and all necessary medical support for his feat. He also said that the young man, who had barely completed his military service, immediately found himself in the epicenter of the fighting.
