- Lavrov and the Bahraini Foreign Minister called for the end of military operations around Iran
During a telephone conversation, Russian Foreign Minister Sergei Lavrov and his Bahraini counterpart Abdel Latyf al-Zayani called for the end of hostilities around Iran, and also stressed the need to launch the negotiation process. This was reported on March 11 on the website of the press service of the Russian Foreign Ministry.
In addition, during the conversation, Lavrov and Al-Zayani paid attention to the development of the situation in the Persian Gulf zone against the background of the US and Israeli operations against Iran.
"Both sides emphasized the unacceptability of attacks leading to the death of civilians and the destruction of critical infrastructure both in Iran and in neighboring Arab countries that are not parties to the conflict," the publication says.
In addition, the Russian Foreign Minister confirmed the readiness of the Russian side to use all opportunities to help stabilize the situation in the Middle East.
Earlier in the day, Lavrov discussed with his Iranian counterpart Abbas Araqchi the deterioration of the situation in the Middle East in connection with the aggression of the United States and Israel. The Russian Foreign Minister noted that the situation in the region had sharply worsened, and also confirmed Moscow's position on the need to reduce tensions as soon as possible.
Kremlin spokesman Dmitry Peskov said on March 11 that the topic of Iran's demands to the United States to resume negotiations had not been raised during the talks.
