In Moscow, they began to prepare waterworks for the spring flood. This was announced on Wednesday, March 11, by Pyotr Biryukov, Deputy Mayor of the capital for Housing and Communal Services and landscaping.

According to him, flooding in the region usually begins in late March or early April, so preparatory work has already started. Specialists are checking the condition of hydraulic structures on the Yauza and Desna rivers, the Likhoborskaya irrigation system, the Borisovskaya dam, the Moscow Canal, as well as on the Istra and Mozhaisk reservoirs, writes Moscow 24.

Biryukov noted that it is planned to clean the culverts and organize round-the-clock monitoring of the water level. In addition, power and mechanical equipment will be checked at the hydraulic structures, equipment for pumping water will be prepared and additional emergency teams will be formed, the Moscow City News agency reports.

He added that the safe passage of the flood will ensure the availability of free capacities of the reservoirs of the Moskvoretsko-Vazuzskaya and Volzhskaya systems, which will be able to receive all the melt runoff.

There is also a special regulation in force in the capital for the interaction of city services during high water, which prescribes areas of responsibility and an algorithm for actions when the hydrological situation changes.

All important news is on the Izvestia channel in the MAX messenger.
