A wheelchair user was not allowed on a flight at the Moscow airport
Dmitry, a passenger of Pobeda Airlines, was unable to fly from Moscow to Dimitrovgrad, as the airline's employees refused to accept his wheelchair in their luggage. The man told Izvestia about this on March 11.
Dmitry said that he had clarified the rules of transportation by phone in advance and received assurances that there would be no problems with transporting the wheelchair. However, when registering, his wheelchair was first marked with a tag, and then it was removed, stating that transportation was impossible due to the installed battery and weight of about 100 kg.
As a result, Dmitry had to leave his wheelchair at the airport to catch his flight. The man added that he had already flown the same flight with the same wheelchair in January, and then it was taken on board, but it was damaged during unloading. He filed a complaint, but did not receive a response, not ruling out that the refusal may be related to his previous appeal.
The press service of the Western Interregional Department of the United Kingdom for Transport reported that they had begun an inspection.
"Investigators are checking information provided in the media about violations of the rights of people with limited mobility at the airport in Moscow. <...> A set of measures is currently being carried out to establish the circumstances and causes of the incident," the agency said.
On February 2, the united press service of the courts of St. Petersburg reported that three passengers had collected 937 thousand rubles from Pegasus Hava Tasimaciligi AS through the Moskovsky District Court in St. Petersburg due to the cancellation of their tickets on suspicion of fraud. The lawsuit was filed after Pegasus cancelled passengers' tickets in Dallaman, Turkey.
