- Russian Deputy Foreign Minister discusses escalation around Iran with Turkish Ambassador
Russian Deputy Foreign Minister Georgy Borisenko discussed with Turkish Ambassador Tanju Bilgic the escalation around Iran and joint coordination of efforts to reduce tensions. This was announced on March 11 by the Russian Foreign Ministry.
"The sides exchanged views on the situation in the Middle East, including in the context of the aggression of the United States and Israel against Iran, with an emphasis on the importance of coordinating the efforts of Russia and Turkey in the interests of reducing tension," the ministry said in a statement on its website.
On March 10, Russian President Vladimir Putin, during a telephone conversation with Peseshkian, called for an early de-escalation of the war in the Middle East. It is noted that the Iranian president in response thanked Russia for its support.
On the same day, Peskov said that Russia was ready, to the best of its ability, to help resolve the crisis in the Middle East and reduce the intensity of the tense situation. He noted that since the beginning of hostilities in the region, Putin has offered various options for mediation and good offices to Russia.
