Kravtsov announced a decrease in the number of lagging students by 10%
Over the past five years, the proportion of lagging students in Russia has decreased by 10%, from 25% to 15%. This was announced on March 11 by Education Minister Sergei Kravtsov at a meeting with Russian President Vladimir Putin.
"Our country has entered the top ten in terms of the quality of school education, and we are also working with lagging students separately. In five years, their number has decreased by 10%, 25% to 15%," the head of the department said.
The Minister reported on the implementation of the President's instructions on improving the quality of science education. This work is aimed at ensuring the country's technological leadership.
As Kravtsov noted, at the same time, the number of high—scoring graduates who have received more than 80 points on the Unified State Exam in natural sciences is growing.
On the same day, the Minister noted that the work on the strategy for the development of education in Russia is at the final stage. He confirmed the fulfillment of the assignment for unified history textbooks for grades 10-11. This year, grades 5-7 are switching to them, and unified textbooks on natural science subjects, Russian language and literature will appear starting in 2027. The full transition will be completed by 2028.
According to Kravtsov, his office will soon submit a draft strategy to Putin for approval. He stated that the key objective of the new strategy is to maintain the achieved level of education, ensure uniform curriculum content in all subjects and normalize the workload of schoolchildren.
