Honored Artist of Russia Valery Bochkin died on March 7, 2026. He was 81 years old. During his life, the actor played many roles in theaters and starred in more than 50 TV series and films, including "Bandit Petersburg", "Secrets of the Investigation", "Streets of Broken Lanterns" and "Cop Wars". Education and the beginning of a career path

Valery Nikolaevich Bochkin was born on June 21, 1944. In 1973, he graduated from GITIS. Lunacharsky. Bochkin studied at the course of People's Artist of the RSFSR Grigory Konsky and People's Artist of the USSR Olga Androvskaya.

Later, in the 1890s, the actor played on the stage of the drama Theater "at the Foundry". Since 1988, Bochkin has worked at the St. Petersburg Youth Theater on Fontanka.

Work at the Children's Drama Theater Fairy Tale "On the Neva"

At the end of 1991, Bochkin connected his life with the Children's Drama Theater of the Fairy Tale "On the Neva". Colleagues in the theater noted the statuesque posture, manners and velvety voice of the actor, which made it possible to embody the images of aristocrats and rulers on stage. During his time there, Bochkin performed more than 30 diverse roles.

Some of the most memorable images of the artist were the majestic Kings in "Cinderella" and "The Adventures of Puss in Boots", the prim Count Shuvalov in "The Stone Flower", the diplomatic Chancellor and majestic January in "Twelve Months", as well as the kind Storyteller in "Thumbelina". Bochkin also played Baba Yaga in the plays "Geese, Swans and Baba Yaga" and "Enchanted Maples". The artist was even awarded a prize for creating the best image of Baba Yaga in St. Petersburg.

For many years, Bochkin was a leading actor at the Neva Theater. He took an active part in the creative and social life of the theater. The actor, having a lot of experience on stage, passed it on to younger colleagues, and also participated in the formation of their creative personalities and motivated them to continue to create specifically for a children's audience. Thus, Bochkin made an invaluable contribution to the preservation and development of the Russian artistic school.

In 1997, he received the title of Honored Artist of Russia.

Filming a movie

In addition to working in the theater, the actor starred in more than 50 films and TV series. Bochkin gained great popularity after the TV series "Bandit Petersburg", "Streets of broken lanterns", "Secrets of the investigation", Cop wars", "Mayakovsky. Two days" and "Tail". The last series in which the actor played was the detective "Women's Case", it was filmed in 2020.

Death

Valery Bochkin died on March 7, 2026. The cause of the actor's death was a stroke. Bochkin will be buried at the Bolsheokhtinskoye cemetery in St. Petersburg on March 12.
