Artificial intelligence (AI) is increasingly being introduced into office work, from document processing to data analysis. However, even the most advanced algorithms are not able to completely replace employees. Inna Filippova, the operating director of the SOK smart office network, told Izvestia about this on March 12.

"Artificial intelligence is really capable of automating a significant part of routine processes — data processing and structuring, preparation of standard documents, information retrieval, primary analysis of reports and large amounts of data, as well as part of administrative operations. But functions related to communication, team management, decision-making, negotiation, and strategic planning still require human involvement," the expert noted.

Russian business is already actively testing neural network technologies. Nevertheless, the maturity level of such projects remains low: only about a quarter of companies have an established AI implementation strategy, and most solutions are at the stage of pilot projects and testing. According to Filippova, there was still no complete transformation of business processes.

"AI is becoming part of the office work infrastructure and helps automate routine functions. At the same time, smart offices and digital work environment management systems are being developed: workplace load analytics, booking services for meeting rooms and work areas, solutions for engineering systems and climate management. Presence sensors, infrastructure monitoring platforms, and employee applications are increasingly being used in buildings. They allow you to see the use of space in real time, optimize energy and maintenance costs, and respond faster to user requests," the expert explained.

When algorithms take over information processing, document preparation, and other repetitive operations, employees have more time for tasks related to analysis, project coordination, and team interaction. Workflows are becoming faster and more manageable, as a significant portion of the ancillary operations are performed automatically.

"In these conditions, the importance of skills related to teamwork and responsibility for results increases. Specialists are more likely to focus on coordinating solutions, managing projects, working with partners and clients, and finding new business solutions. Companies are starting to consider artificial intelligence as a tool to increase productivity and quality of management processes," Filippova said.

At the same time, the technological environment of offices is developing. Digital services and analytics systems provide a better understanding of how company workspaces and resources are used. Thanks to this, the office is gradually becoming a more convenient and supportive work environment, where technology services take over organizational and routine processes, help to find information faster, simplify interaction between teams, and allow employees to focus on tasks that require ideas, solutions, and professional experience.

The demand for specialists with AI experience in Russia has almost doubled: in 2025, the number of vacancies with such requirements increased by 90%. According to the Avito Jobs study, cited on January 20, AI skills were most often in demand among sales professionals.
