Sobyanin approved payments to veterans by Victory Day

The Moscow authorities will pay financial assistance to veterans of the Great Patriotic War by Victory Day. This was announced by the mayor of the capital, Sergei Sobyanin, in the MAX messenger.

The amount of payments will range from 25 thousand to 70 thousand rubles, depending on the category. About 23 thousand Muscovites will receive assistance.

Payments are due to disabled people and war veterans, participants in the defense of Moscow, residents of besieged Leningrad, besieged Sevastopol and Stalingrad, Sobyanin explained. Home front workers, widows of fallen servicemen, and former prisoners of Nazi concentration camps will also receive payments.

In addition, military personnel awarded orders and medals of the USSR for their service between June 22, 1941 and September 3, 1945, as well as those awarded the medal "For the Defense of Leningrad" and the badge "Honorary Donor of the USSR" for donating blood during the war, will receive assistance. Disabled people from childhood due to wartime injuries and citizens born before December 31, 1931 will also receive funds.

Last September, Sobyanin ordered a one-time payment to mark the 84th anniversary of the start of the Soviet counteroffensive in the battle of Moscow. WWII veterans received one-time financial assistance in the amount of 40 thousand rubles.
