In a telephone conversation, Russian President Vladimir Putin expressed gratitude to Azerbaijani leader Ilham Aliyev for his assistance in the evacuation of Russian citizens from Iran, the Kremlin's press service reported.

The Presidents called for an early cessation of hostilities and a diplomatic settlement of the conflict in the Middle East.
