A lifetime warranty on dental implants is possible in modern dentistry, but it applies not only to the implant itself, but also to the quality of the doctor's work and the patient's compliance with care recommendations. On March 10, maxillofacial surgeon, founder of the Estetus clinic, Candidate of Medical Sciences Sevak Barseghyan told Izvestia about this.

"The concept of a lifetime warranty is not a marketing ploy, but a legally and technically feasible standard of clinic responsibility, but with important caveats," the specialist noted.

According to the expert, it is important to distinguish between the manufacturer's warranty for the implant itself and the clinic's warranty for the medical service. The implant is a high-tech product that undergoes strict quality control and has a unique serial number confirming the authenticity of the system. Such a document protects the patient in the event of a possible factory defect.

Barseghyan explained that the implant acts as a "foundation", whereas the durability of treatment largely depends on the quality of surgical and orthopedic work. That is why the main responsibility lies with the clinic and the doctor. According to him, a lifetime guarantee means that the clinic is ready to be financially responsible for the outcome of treatment throughout the patient's life. If the implant does not take root, the components of the prosthesis break down or problems arise related to medical planning, the clinic undertakes to eliminate them at its own expense.

"Of course, such a policy is possible only if a number of conditions are met. The key condition for maintaining warranty obligations is regular routine checkups and professional hygiene, usually every six months. This is not a whim of dentists, but a physiological necessity. Over time, the gums may change, the bone tissue may shrink, and plaque may accumulate. If these processes are allowed to take their course, even a perfectly installed implant can be lost," Barseghyan said.

Regular visits allow the doctor to monitor the condition of the gums, bone tissue and the structure itself. If problems that fall under warranty obligations are identified during the examination, the clinic eliminates them without additional payment from the patient, the surgeon noted.

As Barseghyan noted, in fact, a lifetime warranty in dentistry consists of two factors: the reliability of the implant itself, confirmed by the manufacturer, and the clinic's responsibility for the quality of its work.

The expert stressed that this approach involves long-term patient support after the implant is installed and transparent rules of interaction, in which the medical center is ready to solve problems throughout the entire period of operation of the structure.

Olga Kharlamova, a dentist and founder of STOMTECH PRO, said on March 5 that the fear of dental procedures, known as dentophobia, can be caused by various factors, including negative childhood experiences and feelings of uncertainty during a visit to the doctor. In addition, many patients are afraid of the unknown - they do not understand what exactly the doctor will do, how the procedure will go and how unpleasant it will be.
