The World Health Organization (WHO) is providing support to the Iranian authorities amid the extremely dangerous environmental and health consequences of the US and Israeli strikes on oil storage facilities. This was stated by the official representative of the organization Christian Lindmeyer at a briefing in Geneva on March 10.

"In Iran, precipitation mixed with toxic pollutants is extremely dangerous, has strong acidic properties and can cause chemical burns to the skin and serious lung damage," RIA Novosti quoted him as saying.

He noted that WHO is closely monitoring the development of the situation in Iran and is providing support to the authorities. Lindmeyer added that the organization provides the country with recommendations in the field of preserving the health of citizens and reducing the risks of exposure.

On the same day, the representative of the Government of the Islamic Republic, Fatemeh Mohajerani, said that the US and Israeli missile strikes on Iranian fuel infrastructure facilities had led to air pollution in Tehran.

On the same day, the Israel Defense Forces (IDF) announced the start of a new series of strikes on Tehran. In particular, airstrips and air defense systems were attacked.
