The hand allotransplantation program for patients who have lost limbs was launched at the N. V. Sklifosovsky Research Institute of Emergency Medicine. This was announced on March 10 by Natalia Manturova, chief freelance plastic surgeon at the Ministry of Health of the Russian Federation and the Department of Health of Moscow.

"In the capital, as a result of a joint project of the Ministry of Health of the Russian Federation and the Moscow Department of Health, doctors have made a medical breakthrough and, for the first time in Russia, launched a new direction — the restoration of lost hands. One and two hand transplants, unique for Russia, have already been performed," she said.
