Accommodation facilities are being prepared in case of flooding in the Chelyabinsk region

The Chelyabinsk region is preparing for possible floods. People from flood-flooded areas will be transported to temporary accommodation facilities.

One of these points will be opened at the school of the Metallurgical district of Chelyabinsk, writes <url> news agency with reference to Alexander Astakhov, Deputy Head of Urban Development. Exercises are scheduled for March 11-12. Special equipment will be brought to the parking lot next to the Traktor ice arena.

Forecasters had previously warned that in some areas of the Chelyabinsk region, the snow cover level exceeds the norm by 5-25 cm. After that, a cyclone raged in the region, which brought about a monthly precipitation rate in just one day.
The regional government instructed to pay special attention to flood prevention measures. Due to snowdrifts, the level of reservoirs can rise significantly not only in the Chelyabinsk region, but also in the neighboring Kurgan region.

Earlier it was reported that in at least 16 Russian regions, the level of spring flooding will be higher than normal due to significant snow cover, according to data from the Russian Hydrometeorological Service. At another 20, there is a possibility of exceeding the norm, but not so obvious. Significant flooding is possible in the Central, Volga, Siberian and Far Eastern Federal Districts.
