The first organic mango from Egypt will appear on the Russian market

The first organic mango will appear on the Russian market. This was reported to Izvestia on March 10 in Roskachestvo.

The certification of organic production according to the Russian standard in the accredited body "Roskachestvo-Organik" was carried out by Isis for food processing, a member of Sekem Holding. The company is located in Cairo, Egypt.

In the production of organic mangoes, chemical fertilizers, pesticides and herbicides are strictly avoided at all stages of fruit tree cultivation. The collection, sorting and packaging process eliminates the use of any artificial additives, preservatives and genetic engineering methods, as well as guarantees full traceability of products "from the tree to the counter".

Roskachestvo experts carried out the necessary control measures, including an analysis of documentation and an assessment of production conditions in Egypt. According to the results of the inspection, it was confirmed that the production of mangoes, as well as a wide range of other products (spices, legumes, oils, date bars, tea and herbs) meets the requirements of the interstate standard GOST 33980-2016.

Isis for food processing became the first Egyptian producer of organic mango to be included in the Unified State Register of Organic Producers of the Ministry of Agriculture of the Russian Federation. The company also became the first producer from Egypt to be certified organically according to Russian standards. The certificate gives the right to label products with the "Organic" sign.

Such a certificate can lead to an increase in the cost of the final product.

On March 5, Roskachestvo announced that cognac, which received an organic certificate, appeared on the Russian market for the first time. The ministry explained that strict requirements are observed in the production of organic cognac. In particular, when growing grapes, the use of chemical fertilizers, pesticides and herbicides is completely excluded.
