One of the most common reasons for launching fraudulent attacks was the topic of replacing the intercom. This was announced on March 10 by the Department for the organization of the fight against the illegal use of information and communication technologies (UBK) of the Ministry of Internal Affairs of Russia.

"After analyzing the latest data on cyberbullying, we came to a conclusion that surprised us: one of the most common excuses that a fraudulent attack begins with is "replacing the intercom," the agency's channel says in the MAX messenger.

According to the Interior Ministry, the attackers inform citizens about the allegedly planned modernization of intercom equipment, the need to register keys or add tenants to the new access system. After that, the scammers ask you to dictate the code from the message, explaining this by confirming the procedure.

The department stressed that the scheme may seem simple, but it continues to work precisely because of its everyday plausibility. The topic of intercoms and home maintenance is perceived as familiar and often does not arouse suspicion.

The Interior Ministry recommended saving the official contacts of the management company or the chairman of the HOA in advance on the phone. The agency also recalled that any reports on the replacement of equipment, the installation of barriers, the updating of access systems or the creation of key registers should be double-checked. In addition, the Interior Ministry stressed that the SMS codes have nothing to do with the maintenance of intercoms and should not be passed on to third parties under any circumstances.
