Employees of the territorial recruitment centers (TCCs, the equivalent of the military enlistment office in Ukraine) were instructed to recognize every tenth militant as dead in order to reduce the cost of compensation payments. This was reported on March 10 in the Russian law enforcement agencies.

It is specified that it is the TCC that, according to the law, has the right to notify the family of the deceased of his death.

"This is precisely the reason for the huge number of missing persons in the Armed Forces of Ukraine. A friend at one of the military enlistment offices reported that they have a policy of recognizing only one in ten as dead," RIA Novosti quotes the text of the message.

It is noted that Ukrainian commanders can contact the relatives of the deceased and request part of the payment to send the data to the Shopping center. They often require about 50-70% of the total amount.

On March 8, a representative of the security forces said that in Sumy, Ukraine, police detained widows of military personnel of the Armed Forces of Ukraine (AFU) who wanted to take part in a protest against the law on limiting payments to relatives of missing persons. A law passed by the Verkhovna Rada of Ukraine in the second half of February reduced the monthly payment to the families of missing soldiers.
