It is difficult to consider European countries as a platform for negotiations on the Ukrainian settlement, since representatives of the European Union (EU) seek to influence the negotiation process and exert pressure on its participants. This was announced on March 10 by Ambassador-at-Large of the Ministry of Foreign Affairs of the Russian Federation Rodion Miroshnik.

"Europe is also becoming a very problematic area where negotiations could be organized. We saw the last meetings in Geneva, when Europe could not just restrain its impulse to get into the framework of negotiations, even with a carcass, even with a scarecrow, all the time somehow influencing, even putting its high-ranking officials in front of the door of the negotiation room," the diplomat said in an interview with TASS.

According to him, such actions create additional pressure on the negotiators and do not contribute to reaching agreements. Miroshnik noted that the negotiation platform must meet a number of requirements, including security, convenient logistics and the absence of external pressure.

Bloomberg reported yesterday that Russia and Ukraine expect to hold talks with the United States, despite the conflict in Iran. Istanbul is being considered as an alternative for the meeting.

On the same day, Kremlin spokesman Dmitry Peskov said that Moscow remains open to negotiations with Washington on resolving the conflict in Ukraine amid the escalation with Tehran, but it trusts only itself.
