In Australia, a court has acquitted a 24-year-old local woman who, out of jealousy, "in a fit of rage," punctured several of her friend's condoms. This was announced by ABC News on March 6.

"She told the police that she was jealous of her friend's relationship and said that the new partner had driven a wedge into their friendship," the publication says.

According to the broadcaster, the girl appeared before a jury last week, but refused to testify. During the meeting, recordings of the police interrogation in 2024 were shown, in which the woman confessed to what she had done. In July 2022, she punctured several of her neighbor's contraceptives with a sewing needle. She also stated that her friend's man was almost always in the house and tried to quarrel with the girls.

It is clarified that the incident became known after the accused's neighbor went to the hospital due to severe abdominal pain, where she suffered a miscarriage. Later, the victim discovered a friend's correspondence with her former partner, from which she learned about the spoiled contraceptives.

The prosecution could not prove that the woman's actions were indeed the cause of the victim's pregnancy, after which the court issued an acquittal verdict, as the jury could not establish a causal relationship in the conflict, it follows from the material.

ABC reported last November that the murder of three-year-old Cheryl Grimmer, who disappeared on a beach near Wollongong in January 1970, has remained unsolved in Australia for more than half a century. It is noted that a year later, the young man confessed to abducting and strangling the girl, even indicating the place where, according to him, he hid the body. However, no evidence was found there, and the case was closed. In 2011, authorities officially declared Cheryl dead, despite the family's repeated requests to reopen the investigation.
