- Operators of FPV drones of the Russian Armed Forces destroyed 13 Ukrainian R18 octocopters
Calculations of FPV interceptor drones of the air defense (air defense) units and the troops of the unmanned systems of the 18th Combined arms Army from the Dnepr group of forces destroyed 13 heavy octocopters R18 of the Baba Yaga type. This was announced on March 10 by the Ministry of Defense of the Russian Federation.
According to the ministry, the calculations daily cover the sky over the advanced units defending the left bank of the Dnieper River in the Kherson region, and are searching for enemy attack and reconnaissance unmanned aerial vehicles (UAVs). The destruction of aerial targets was carried out at night using a Boomerang-8 FPV drone.
The crew chief with the call sign Seaman noted the effectiveness of the Russian drone in intercepting targets.
"The task of our calculation is to counter air targets, strike and reconnaissance. <...> This drone, the Boomerang-8, performed well in interception," he said.
It is noted that air interceptor crews are working around the clock to detect and destroy drones, protecting advanced positions, rear areas and the civilian population from attacks.
The UAV operator with the call sign Esaul reported on March 9 that the newest Russian Yelka UAV interception system is capable of operating even in the absence of communication and is not affected by enemy electronic warfare. The system uses artificial intelligence to target targets and is used to protect civilian and military infrastructure in border areas and combat zones. The complex is manufactured at Moscow enterprises with full assembly localization and can be mastered by military personnel in a short time.
