Negotiations on advancing US President Donald Trump's plan to end the conflict in the Gaza Strip have been suspended due to Israeli and American strikes on Iran. This was reported on March 9 by the Reuters news agency, citing sources.

"The pause threatens to delay the implementation of Trump's flagship Middle East peace initiative, which he called one of his main foreign policy goals," the article says.

In addition, one of the sources close to the work of Trump's "Peace Council" described the pause as "a short-term, minor delay caused by flight disruptions that prevented intermediaries and representatives from traveling in the region."

According to another source, representatives of the Palestinian Hamas movement were supposed to hold talks with Egyptian, Qatari and Turkish mediators on February 28, but the meeting was canceled and no new date was set.

Earlier in the day, U.S. Secretary of State Marco Rubio noted that the goal of the U.S. mission in Iran is to destroy Tehran's ability to launch missiles. He stressed that the operation is carried out with "overwhelming force and high precision." In addition, the diplomat called the Iranian government a terrorist regime.

At the same time, Trump said on March 6 that the only acceptable outcome of the conflict with Iran is the unconditional surrender of the republic. He also noted that after the surrender and the election of a "great and acceptable leadership," the United States, together with its allies, intends to work to rebuild Iran in order to make it economically stronger than before.
