The meteorite, which flew over the territory of Europe and broke up into fragments in Germany, could reach three meters. This was announced on March 9 at the Laboratory of Solar Astronomy of the Space Research Institute of the Russian Academy of Sciences (IKI RAS)

"According to the incoming images, the brightness of the car near the epicenter can be estimated at a magnitude from -15 to -20, which is hundreds of times higher than the brightness of the full moon. The size of the meteorite, based on the video, ranges from one to several (2-3) meters," the laboratory said in a Telegram channel message.

It is noted that the stone previously entered the Earth's atmosphere at an altitude of about 80 km and was observed for about 10 seconds. However, already in the altitude range from 40 to 20 km, the body broke into fragments.

On this day, the DPA news agency reported that fragments of a meteorite damaged the roofs of houses in the federal state of Rhineland-Palatinate in Germany. At the same time, parts of the space object fell on March 8 in the Guls area.
