Peskov noted the difference in the US approach to negotiations with Russia and Iran.
Russia is conducting a direct dialogue with the United States, which fundamentally distinguishes this process from Washington's contacts with Tehran. This was stated on March 8 by Kremlin spokesman Dmitry Peskov in an interview with the Vesti news agency.
Peskov noted that the American side, represented by special representative of the President of the United States Stephen Witkoff and businessman Jared Kushner, uses intermediaries to interact with Iranian representatives.
"Witkoff and Kushner spoke to the Iranians through intermediaries. We are talking to the Americans directly. There is a difference," the Kremlin spokesman stressed.
The press secretary of the Russian president added that the Russian Federation analyzes in detail all aspects of the negotiation process. According to him, Moscow remains ready to continue the dialogue. In addition, Peskov stressed that Russia must trust itself and its president, for whom the majority of the country's citizens vote.
The American leader Donald Trump said yesterday that the end of the conflict in Ukraine is on the way. At the same time, the head of the White House expressed the opinion that resolving the crisis in Ukraine remains a difficult task.
Witkoff, in turn, noted on March 6 that the United States expects new progress in negotiations on the Ukrainian settlement in the coming weeks. According to him, work continues on a final peace agreement that will end the conflict.
Prior to that, on March 5, Trump said that Ukrainian President Volodymyr Zelensky was an obstacle to the peaceful settlement process. According to the US president, Zelensky does not seek negotiations.
