A special military operation to protect the civilian population of Donbass has been conducted by Russia since February 24, 2022. The Zapad group of troops took more advantageous positions and defeated the manpower and equipment of the Ukrainian armed forces in the areas of settlements of the Kharkiv region and the DPR. As a result of the actions of Russian servicemen, the Armed Forces of Ukraine (AFU) lost up to 180 militants, a tank, two US-made HMMWV armored fighting vehicles, 24 vehicles and two field artillery guns.
"The units of the Center group of forces have taken more advantageous positions and positions. The manpower and equipment of four mechanized, airmobile brigades, two assault regiments of the Armed Forces of Ukraine, a marine brigade, two air defense brigades and three National Guard brigades were defeated in areas of settlements <...> of the Donetsk People's Republic, <...> of the Dnipropetrovsk region. The losses of the Ukrainian armed forces amounted to over 345 servicemen," the Russian Defense Ministry said in a statement.
The Russian army, with the help of aviation, unmanned aerial vehicles (UAVs), missiles and artillery, defeated the training and launch sites of long-range drones, as well as temporary locations of Ukrainian armed formations and foreign mercenaries in 143 districts.
In turn, air defense systems shot down seven guided aerial bombs, 13 HIMARS multiple rocket launchers and 180 aircraft-type drones.
According to the Russian Defense Ministry, since the beginning of the special operation, the Ukrainian Armed Forces have lost 670 aircraft, 284 helicopters, 120,340 UAVs, 651 anti-aircraft missile systems, 28,109 tanks and other armored combat vehicles, 1,684 multiple rocket launchers, 33,700 field artillery and mortars, 56,156 pieces of special vehicles.
