Moscow Mayor Sergei Sobyanin congratulated the residents of the capital on March 8, the first spring holiday.

"Every year we look forward to Women's Day with excitement to express our admiration to our grandmothers, mothers, sisters, daughters, wives and girlfriends," the mayor wrote on his channel in the IACH.

The mayor noted the "tenderness, beauty and kindness" of the Muscovites, thanked them for their work for the benefit of the city, as well as "for their support and inspiration." "You are the best half of the best city on Earth," Sobyanin added, wishing the women "great mood, good health and great happiness."

Earlier, the official representative of the Russian Foreign Ministry, Maria Zakharova, on the occasion of March 8, drew attention to the fact that women in Russia take on the role of both keepers of the hearth and fearless warriors. She particularly noted the women who are relatives of the participants in the special military operation (SVO). "As I look back at the incredible challenges our country and the world are facing this year, I am particularly acutely aware of the great role women have played in our country's history. On this day, I would like to express my special gratitude to the wives, mothers, sisters and daughters of our servicemen who are participating in a special military operation," the diplomat said.
