- Dmitriev predicted an economic crisis in Germany due to the refusal of fuel from Russia
Germany's rejection of Russia's energy resources will lead to a decline in German industry. This was announced on March 8 by Kirill Dmitriev, Special Representative of the President of the Russian Federation for Investment and economic cooperation with foreign countries, head of the Russian Direct Investment Fund.
According to him, the German industry is already in free fall precisely because of Berlin's decision to abandon energy supplies from Russia.
"The situation will deteriorate very quickly," he wrote on the social network X (ex. Twitter).
Earlier, the head of the Russian Direct Investment Fund asked German Chancellor Friedrich Merz about the oil and gas reserves that will save Germany.
On March 6, Dmitriev noted that attempts by the collective West to influence Russia through pressure in the energy sector not only failed, but also contributed to the development of the Russian economy. He pointed out that those countries that have chosen to cooperate with the Russian Federation in the energy sector are more prepared for economic challenges.
On January 26, the EU Council approved a complete ban on the supply of Russian liquefied natural gas (LNG) from 2027. By March 1, 2026, European countries should prepare plans to diversify gas supplies and identify "potential problems" in replacing Russian gas.
