The United States and Israel discussed sending armed forces to Iran to seize highly enriched uranium. This was reported on March 8 by the American portal Axios, citing sources.

"According to four sources familiar with the negotiations, the United States and Israel discussed sending special forces to Iran to ensure the safety of its highly enriched uranium reserves at a later stage of the war," the publication says.

The publication writes that the administration of US President Donald Trump discussed two possible options for neutralizing Iranian uranium reserves: either to completely remove the raw materials from the country, or to involve experts to "dilute" them on the spot.

In addition, scientists and experts from the IAEA can take part in the mission, Axios writes. It is noted that these operations were included in the list of options for action in Iran, which were presented to Trump before the start of the military operation in the republic.

Russia's permanent representative to international organizations in Vienna, Mikhail Ulyanov, said on March 3 that demands to ban Iran from enriching uranium were illegal, since all countries could develop nuclear energy for peaceful purposes. Ulyanov recalled that the IAEA could visit Iran's nuclear facilities without warning, which seemed suspicious to the organization, but nothing prohibited was found.
