Livestock began to be seized in several districts of the Novosibirsk region due to an outbreak of rabies. This was announced on March 7 by the Ministry of Agriculture of the region.

"Animals are being seized and destroyed from the personal subsidiary farms of citizens. Compensation will be paid to citizens without fail, this is provided for by law," RIA Novosti quoted the agency as saying.

It is noted that there is no threat to the life and health of the population. Local residents were urged to treat the situation with understanding, as well as vaccinate their animals.
