Trump: changes will happen in Cuba in the near future
The United States will switch to Cuba after the completion of the military operation in Iran. This was announced on March 7 by the American leader Donald Trump at the Shield of the Americas summit.
"I think it's easy enough to make a deal with Cuba. <...> She will have a wonderful new life, but her current life is on its last legs. Right now, our focus is on Iran," Trump said.
He also signed a proclamation on the creation of a military coalition to fight drug cartels. In addition, according to him, the United States is ready to use advanced weapons to combat them, if requested by the countries of the region.
On March 6, Trump announced that he intends to send Secretary of State Marco Rubio to Cuba as part of negotiations between Washington and Havana. The head of the White House earlier noted that possible future US actions against Cuba are only a "matter of time," but the United States wants to "finish with Iran" first.
Russian Foreign Ministry spokeswoman Maria Zakharova, responding to a question from Izvestia on March 4, said that Russia considers unacceptable attempts to create obstacles to international cooperation with Cuba. Commenting on the political pressure that the United States is exerting on Cuba, Zakharova recalled that the Russian and Cuban sides have "close, friendly" and long-standing relations that have developed in this way historically.
