Vucic called the consequences of abandoning Russian oil for Europe
European countries will pay the "highest price" for rejecting oil from Russia, while Asian and African countries will be able to receive Russian oil, Serbian President Aleksandar Vucic said on March 7. His words are quoted by the newspaper Srbija Danas.
"The Americans' decision was made tonight because <...>..> they don't know what to do with oil prices. <...> Do you know who <...> is powerless in all this? Well, we're from Europe. We will pay the highest price again. Now everyone will accept Russian oil, except Europe," Vucic said, presenting the Serbia 2030 development strategy.
The head of the US Treasury, Scott Bessent, in an interview with Fox Business on March 6, said that the United States could further ease sanctions against Russian oil amid the conflict in the Middle East.
Bloomberg reported on the same day that, amid the escalation in the Middle East, gasoline in the United States rose to $3.32 per gallon. British politician Jim Ferguson noted that the actual closure of the Strait of Hormuz, through which about 20% of the world's oil supplies pass, threatens a global economic crisis.
